My Vote - As Always - Is For Diane

Seriously, first bit of good news in a long time. Diane Abbott is absolutely my first choice (of anyone really, not just the available candidates) to lead the Labour Party. And she's my MP (minor girl-crush...) and I've met her several times and written to her hundreds of times and she's awesome.

Me too! The current received wisdom is that she 'hasn't got a chance' but I can see that changing as people get sick and tired of seeing the same old white, male, straight, suit-wearing bores. Fingers crossed!

I just watched her performance on This Week - she wasn't sounding overly confident which is a shame because what she has going for her is that she is a 'different face' from the norm. Might need to tighten up the arguments a bit.

Would be great if she got it!

Thanks so much for this, Kate. Has the Labour Party suddenly become racist? why is there not more support for Diane's leadership bid. Also why is there not more about it on the UK femsphere, like The F Word, not a single article, or have I missed something. This is a very rare and exciting opportunity for women we should grasp it with both hands. There is not much time, lets not behave in the way many US women did to Hillary, we will repent it at leisure.

Yes I offered to write for the F-Word (in previous years I've been a guest-blogger for them in May) and was turned down this year. Had I been writing for them I would have covered it, but instead you will have to read my stuff here. I also spoke about her today on Vanessa Feltz's BBC London radio show.
