Comedy 1 - Virgin Trains 0

My friend and fellow comedian Tom Wrigglesworth turned have-a-go (sort of) hero to help an elderly woman on the receiving end of some unsurprising poor treatment on Virgin Trains. Nice to read something cheering for a change...

Aw, that did cheer me up.
Brilliant. There is hope for humanity.
Fuck train Nazis - seriously, what is wrong with some people who are supposed to work in customer service? They think they can bully an old person into giving them her carefully saved money when *they* made a mistake? I'd like to see them try that on me!

I've had the thing where I'm on the wrong train by accident (largely because their booking processes are so confusing) and the guy says he's not going to charge me but then insists on giving me a 30 minute lecture on how other train guards wouldn't be so lenient. I ended up getting off the train at the next stop because a 20 minute wait in a coffee shop was preferable to putting up with him tut-tutting at me every time he came past. Mr Cru who of course was on the same train with the same invalid ticket got none of this treatment.

Ah yes, the "I'll let you off, but you must be sufficiently grateful" routine.
Funny that Mr Cru didn't get that...

Yeah I have been on the wrong train by accident - and once when I got to the station early and thought waiting around was pointless. Never been charged, luckily. I have been charged for sitting in 1st class without a 1st class ticket...was commuting at the time and there were no seats and barely floor space in normal class and no-one in First...sigh.

That was good. I found these funny, too: It's not unique, but Matthew Taylor has a couple of entertaining pieces on problems with Virgin Trains: http://www.matthewtaylorsblog.com/tag/virgin-trains/
